Cory Conacher

Shamrocks Coach inks Professional Contract
Buffalo NY (AP) -
The most decorated player in Canisius College school history and member of the Buffalo Shamrocks coaching staff for four years, senior forward Cory Conacher has signed a contract with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Thursday after completing his career with the Golden Griffins. Rochester is the farm club of the National Hockey League (NHL) Florida Panthers.

A second-team All-Atlantic Hockey selection this season, Conacher led the Griffs with 42 points, 23 goals, eight power-play tallies and four game-winners during his senior campaign. Conacher became the first player in the program's history with two seasons of 40-plus points and 20-plus goals, while his 23 scores are the most in the program's Division I history.

The 2009-10 Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year, Conacher finished his career with 12 career, single-season and single-game records. He owns the program's records with 147 career points, 62 career goals and 12 game-winning tallies. Along with the goals mark he set this season, Conacher also set the single-season standards with 53 points and 33 assists during his junior campaign.

The signing of Conacher marks the second-straight year that a Griff joined the Americans after finishing his career. Last season, Carl Hudson inked a deal with Rochester before signing with the Florida Panthers in the offseason.

The Buffalo Shamrocks congratulate Coach Cory for volunteerism with the 'Rocks and his on-ice success and know he will make the most of his opportunity!
